    Question Breast Pump Question

    Advertisements
I know this is something I'll ultimately have to figure out on my own but I'm trying to get a feel for it

I am already a DD and I'm not even full term yet... Do ya'll think I'll probably need a XL or XXL breast shield for my Medela when I'm BF'ing and pumping? I know it's really something I'll need to see for myself when the time comes but I'm just wondering what ya'll think.

What size shield have ya'll needed?

I'm not really confused by much of it

I am curious what size shield I might need though

I am like a 36DDD now and I have no idea what size my pump parts are... hmm... they seem to work whatever they are! I realize this is completely unhelpful!

Did you use the shields that came with it?

they will all work.. but a properly sized shield will help with better milk flow.

I was a 38 F when I delivered and I had no issues using the breast shield that came with the medela hand pump. Its not like your entire boob goes int the thing lol just your areola and nipple, i mean more goes in bu thtats the important part. Thik about a babys head head, obviously you wouldn't be able to put your whole boob in a babys mouth, just the areol and nipple. The only thing I would worry about size is if you end up using a nipple sheild for nursing, I had too due to latch issues and nipple section comes in different sized to accomidate your nipple size, or the babys mouth, but thats it. The parts woek just fine

I was an E cup after having Wade (amazing to say now, I have nothing of those left), and I used the regular shields that came with the pump.

I am a DD (never grew during or after pregnancy). I do think my areola's grew, though. They look like nasty dinner plates now. barf.

Anyway, the ones that come with the hospital grade Symphony Medela I THINK are 24mm, which work fine for me..and that is on my larger boob with the larger nipple. That boob MIGHT even be a DDD/E.
