With Emma, I just took it from her and let her cry. Eventually she would cry long enough that she would just fall asleep. After a few nights of that, she was over it. Especially at 3 she needs to be off it. If it were me I would just take it away and hide it.

what if you make it a big deal for her?
like... warn her that the next night she will get to be a big girl without her nuk... and have a special 'last nuk' day for her.
like... maybe a new 'big girl' gift for bedtime instead of the nuk... and a special dinner and bedtime story.
it might make her feel special and make her NOT want the nuk

otherwise... i'd just let her cry it out too.

With Jacob he was 18 months and I had enough of the paci...so I cut the tip of it. Once I did that he would have nothing to do with it anymore.

Its the suction that they are looking for.

You cut off the tip of it.. Did you give it back to him? And just let him cry it out?

I would just take it away. She will get over it eventually.

It will take a few days to a week of fussing and whining for it before they get over it. But if you cut the tip of it that helps tremendously.

Personally, I've never dealt with this. But I've seen on Supernanny where she has the kid put all the pacis in a bag/bucket/envelope and either mails them away or have them taken by someone like the tooth fairy. And then they are given something to show they are a big boy/girl in return. Like they would get soemthing in the mail if they mailed them away. If someone like the tooth fairy came and got them then the fairy would bring them something.

That sounds like a great idea!
