Do your WIC programs offer any perks or incentives as breastfeeding moms? Do they have Breastfeeding support groups?

    Just intersted...

I was on WIC with MDD. I needed a hospital grade breast pump for a couple of months and they issued me one (Ameda Elite). They will also supply you with nursing bras.

I know they had support groups, I'm fairly sure LLL was involved in them. I never went to the meetings so I dont know for sure.

When I had Shelby, I asked them to help with a pump b/c I was having pumping issues and I heard that they sometimes will loan you a pump. She told me absolutely not, they do not rent pumps UNLESS you work FULL TIME, and it's not a hospital grade one. Of course, this was great lakes and I HATED that WIC office, which is why I was only on WIC for one series of checks. I was just disgusted with everything about the office, the personnel and the way they treated and talked to me, so I never went back. Maybe other offices will loan them but they wouldn't. I wish they would have though.

It depends on the state. We got a hand pump in Wyoming and you could be on a list for a 30 day "rental" with no fee for a electric one.

I had a hard time with the electric ones because I felt like a cow to a milking machine.

I got all the things when I was BFing as I got while pg plus carrots and/or tuna. They have BFing support groups and Lactation Specialists. I would fill out forms everytime I went in as to what I was interested in recieving. They have breast pumps as well.

It depends on your state. They do offer lots of support and help, some do offer pumps, others don't. You can always talk to the WIC office where you are to see what they offer. In CA they were doing all they could to get mothers to BF so there were lots of incentives including monetary.

    I will miss you SOS...
Please be wary of what you post remember OPSEC is not just another acronym.
