I talked to a lactation consutant and she gave me some nipple shields to use. They had to fit me for them and as soon as I pulled my breast out she was like you have thrush! So I STILL have thrush and thats why its still so painful!! I got nystatian for Rhyann and me AGAIN and hopefully it will go away soon!! Last time we didnt get stuff for Rhyann so thats probably why it didnt go away! I latched Rhyann on for her and Im latching her on good, just having the stupid thrush issues!

My nipples are bright pink like infection and the tips of them are white.....I just thought it was normal looking since I do have a baby sucking on them all the time, but apparently its not. Also they HURT when feeding and burn when your not....again I thought was normal

Most pharmacies carry it, but call around and ask. It's a little tiny bottle and it's PURPLE...and believe me a little goes ALONG way. You and the baby will be purple, but it won't stain your skin but will stain clothes.

If you put some on the end of a Q-tip and put it in the babies mouth before feeding it will coat the mouth and your nipples. Usually once a day for a day or two works great.

My youngest DD used to get thrush and this was the ONLY thing that works. I keep some in the house for any fungus thing like ringworm etc. It's non toxic and works FAST.

Use it at night that way you don't have to worry about it staining too much.

Here is a good article on using Genitian Violet to treat thrush and breastfeeding..

    ack...wrong link:

    THIS is the link...sorry...
