    moving his car?

    Advertisements
ok so we're moving to fort lewis in august after we get married, and df didn't know this so i was wondering if any of you knew, will the army ship his car from here (fort riley) to there? cause i knew they did that if they're going overseas but i didn't know about just from KS to WA. yeah sorry if this is a sorta stupid question but i don't know ANYTHING and yet i have to plan EVERYTHING and everytime i ask df another question he just gets more and more annoyed. i'm trying not to bug him as much. it's driving me nuts not knowing how things work and yet *I'M* the one that has to do everything. grrrrr

if he makes sure it's in his orders, they might. but i don't think so

he should ask his platoon sergeant to find out for him.

well i know for the navy they wouldn't pay for me to ship my truck up here from tx to wa. if they won't then use dependable auto shippers. they are definitely reasonable, and reliable.

then again this is from tx to wa

I was going to tell you to look into dependable auto shippers. We almost used them. We ended up not needing to since his friend stored the car for us. good luck with everything. The first move is the hardest IMO because you don't know anything.

thanks, yeah, i'm one of those people that likes to know exactly what i can and can't do, so this first move is frustrating, but i'm sure it'll be worth it in the end
the car situation is complicated, it costs so much to rent a damn u-haul for one way, otherwise we'd tow it, and i may or may not have a car by then - mine is on its last legs - ARGH this is the ONLY part of this huge change that is truly frustrating. we may just have our stuff shipped but i've never done that before and the idea kind of makes me nervous.

The people that pack and ship are actually pretty good and in most cases they pack your stuff better than you could... I say MOST cases, because there are always exceptions.

Having your car shipped isn't too bad at all. Ours was shipped from Texas to Hawaii. They had it on a truck from Tx to Cali and then a ship from Cali here of course. It did get a few nics and dings and a little puncture mark on the rear bumper, but I imagine that probably happened on the pier by someone not paying attention. We were compensated for the most part as well. They are good though!! Most people don't have issues at all when it is shipped!

Good luck! I was in your shoes last summer. New wife, and it was all on my shoulders because he was deployed. Needless to say you are initiated in the best way possible and get the first one over with quickly and are more knowledgeable for the next one!! Good luck girlie!!!
