Yes I think you have to do it for the family members and you have to escort them if it is on a base. I stayed at the one in great lakes and all I needed was my wifes SS# and the command, etc. I like to stay at the Navy Lodge, it doesnt bother me.

I didn't think it mattered as long as whoever makes the reservations knows the sponsors SS#. I stayed at the one in Great Lakes too, before our HHGs arrived. It was a nice room but SO boring.

Yes, but keep in mind it is PCS time (Spring-Fall) and it will be very booked.

They need 60 days notice usually for the lodges out here because of how many service members are here. GL Navy Lodge was always empty!

You can make reservations for them but as Jen said you have to do it 60 days in advance for family members on a leisure trip.

Be prepared, because during PCS time, if a family arrives and needs the room, they will boot people who are either not Navy or are single sailors out of the room... We were told they'd do that since we'll be staying there while waiting on housing.. My DH needs to call and double check our reservations again, btw.. thanks for reminding me..LOL

Well, I'm what I am and I'm what I'm not
and I'm sure happy with what Iíve got
I live to love and laugh alot
    and thatís all I need

They can stay at Miramar and they don't have to be escorted on base with you. That's where my parents stay when they are in town...

Does anyone else know if you stay on 32nd or Coronado if you have to escort your guest on each time, or if they will get a base pass? I tried driving my car on base before I had stickers for it, and they wouldn't let me on! I am so used to Miramar where anyone can get on with a valid ID.

I believe that they can get a base pass, do not take that as for sure though.

Miramar may also be booked. We tried to get my IL's in there, I called way in advance and they were booked SOLID for 4 months.

Well! 60 days is way to long. I thought maybe it would be a cheaper option for them but Im not going to go all that trouble.

you guys are so great! Thanks!

You can always give them a call and see! We made our in-laws reservations about 2 weeks out last time. It just happened to be a good weekend when there wasn't a lot of moving or events going on. You can also try Miramar too, as they don't seem to be as busy as the Navy base counterparts.

Also, there are hotel coupons you can get from the MWR, so that if they stay out in town, you can get a discounted rate!
