    Being moved by the military?

    Howdies!

When you're moved by the military, how exactly does that work? Are there specific things they WON'T pack, or does the whole kit n' caboodle go? (like do they pack foodstuffs) Have you found they've left anything behind?

I'm just wondering if I should group stuff together, or let em have it...

They pack one day then move everything out another..

They dont pack candles, batteries, flamable liquids (nail polish, gas, etc), opened bottles containing liquid (or anything else that might leak).

Im sure theres a list somewhere on the net.. give me a bit & i'll see if i can find it

they packed a couple candles we had and they wrapped them in packing paper and everything. they pack everything. we got broken remotes for t.v.s and whatnot that dont' match with anything. we weren't home his mom took care of it. they don't pack food or anything that can leak but they will pack like skiis and whatnot like that. i'm sure there is a list online too i don't know the site though

Also, I've been told they do not pack things pertaining to an at home business (one of my friends was a CM consultant & they refused to pack that stuff).
You'd be amazed at what they will pack. We got a box full of garbage!
The best thing to do is have the things you do not want packed in a seperate room with a note on the door saying "do not pack", otherwise it WILL get packed!

    an article that might help:

Here is the thing to remember. They will store things when they get there. Are you moving to a really hot climate or a cold climate. Will something freeze? They packed for us everything but liquids, candles, flamable things, ect. Just common sense things.

Make sure you watch them though. If you want something wrapped 4 times...they will do it.

    Good luck.

LOL make sure you throw stuff away too...a friend of mine found that they had packed a half eaten piece of toast that was on the coffee table from her daughter, the little potty with pee still in it, trash cans with trash still in it. I've heard of ashtrays with the cigarette butts still in it. Crazy that they'll pack that stuff, but NOT certain spices or liquids.

    Over here,

they won't pack flamible liquids, alcohol, and perishables.

So food stuffs like baking goods, and things that won't perish are ok.
