I love United through reading. Dh did this on his last time out. The kids love to see their daddy and hear him read to them. They have books on the ship. We all so sent books for him to read. It is a great way to let the kids know their the are loved and thought of but dad/mom. It is so cool.
    Retiring very soon.

There should be a United Through Reading active duty coordinator on the ship, and also a homefront coordinator. I am the homefront coordinator for my husband's ship (or am going to be once they actually leave). The ombudsmand probably knows who the homefront person is. Here is a link to all the places/ships/commands who are offering a United Through Reading program: http://www.read2kids.org/documents/U...ailability.pdf

pertty much anything. We were told about the program but not how to get invloved with it. Im going to send a message to the ombudsmen but they are so so so slow in getting back to people (meaning ME) about things. Its very likely deployment will be over before they tell me anything. deployment hasn't even started yet!

Hmm My husbands ship isn't on that list but we were told they are doing it.
