    Taking a cat overseas

    Advertisements
What do I have to do? Noone has told us anything yet. I want to get started because we're not sure the exact date that we're leaving, but it could be soon-it's a hot job. I remember someone posting a warning a while back about getting the process done ASAP, but now I can't find it. We're going to Guam if that helps. This is our first PCS move and first time going overseas.

    TIA

If Guam is anything like Hawaii, you'll need to begin the quarantine process ASAP.

Good luck!! I hope you have enough time to complete all the required tests and shots. I know a few families who have run into problems once they received their orders to Hawaii and had to leave their furry children behind.

NP!!! My kitty, which I raised from 10 days old, is living comfortably with my parents. My parents keep teasing me about paying "child" support...LOL!!! I think we're gonna bring her with us to VA. But we'll see, seeing as she's lived with my parents for 3+ years.

I got my cat when she was really young. She's a 1 person cat, so I know she would not be happy anywhere else. Did you choose to leave your cat behind or did you not make the deadline? I know that must have been hard!

Well...1 I moved on kinda the spur of the moment and didn't have the time or money to pay for everything that the quarantine calls for.
And 2. the place Bryan off-base Bryan got didn't allow for any pets.
But it's all good. She still remembers me when I go home for visits.

I don't know what the rules for Guam are like but if your cat has to be quarantined for any amount of time the military will reimburse up to $550 of the quarantine fees.

We were all excited when we found that out because we paid $2600 for our cat's quarantine here in England so that $550 really helped.
