The real deal with calling cards...?

    Advertisements
So what's the real deal with calling cards? Can we purchase them and send them to our SO's, or do they have to buy them on the ship?

If we CAN buy them, exactly what type are they?

    TIA!

Try buying the international ones from the NEX.. I believe they're AT&T.. they work from every port and the rates are great. Dh used them when calling me from Bahrain on his cell, and because it's a toll free number, it didn't cost him cell minutes.

If you don't want to wait for the care package to get to him, why not buy the card and email him the toll free number and phone card pin #. I've done that before and it works! Plus he'll be able to use the phone card as soon as possible!

Well, I'm what I am and I'm what I'm not
and I'm sure happy with what Iíve got
I live to love and laugh alot
    and thatís all I need

I've never bought any for DH and I don't think he's ever used them. I would think the ones at the exchange would be best though

I bought my dh international calling cards at the exchange. he could use them when they pulled into ports, but not on the ship. He said there was a special calling card he had to get at the ship store to use the phones on the ship.

Ditto to all that said AT&T from the exchange! After his first deployment (bought the wrong cards that time), all we've ever bought are the AT&T ones. I pick him up one, email all the info. When he starts to run low, I just go online and add more money.
