DF's orders got changed to Fort Polk now after he finishes up airborne. Anybody have information on Fort Polk? I couldn't find much on their website or facebook. Plus i'd love to hear anybody on here's experience with the area.

I've heard that it's a lot like where I am (one of my closest friends was stationed there with her husband). Lot's of southern cooking! Lots of southern hospitality. Much ado about nothing...really. The base is it's own town. Though fishing and stuff was cool...until the oil spill.

My best friend and her hubby lived there 3 yrs. They had 2 kids and really enjoyed the "nothing" around there, lol they went fishing almost daily, had a pool in their subdivision and went to Lake Charles for more shopping and whatnot. She lived on Willowben Drive in some duplexes. Nice neighborhood, I thought! :o) (Off post)

Right off post the neighborhood is not so good. The first thing my ex husband said when we frist went to walmart was is this the tryouts for Jerry lol. On post its a lot better. There really isnt much to do, but they are putting pools and gyms in every housing divs. North fort is more quite then the south part there are more kids that run the streets in the south part of post.

    Ft. Polk

All i can say is start looking now for a house or apartment...If you wait you will be waiting, unless your going to buy a house....there is nothing to rent off post and when there is it is gone quick!!!!

There is a whole lot of nothing to do!!! I agree with the rest of the posts.....
