    Question NAS Pensacola Housing

    Advertisements
Anyone have any recommendations to which base housing areas to choose or stay away from?!

We plan on taking house-hunting leave in a couple months to visit the area, but are still weighing our options about whether to rent or live in base housing. This is a confusing PCS.

    Thanks in advance!!!

Just live off base. Lol. On base housing here is like.. condoey.. townhousey. They're nice... but living off base is alot easier. NOTHING is on this base.. And if you're on NAS.. the commy, exchange and everything is actually on a base about 10 min away, Correy Station.

My advice would be to get a house or apt off base. Especially if you have kids, just so you can pick which school they go too.

I thought there are single family homes like Barrancas and Old Hospital?
I don't know what the interior of the homes look like though...

If you do look off base I'd suggest the area I used to live in, it's Lake Charlene area, and it's gorgeous.

I live in Perdido. Old Hospital and Barrancas is kinda ghetto. I've seen those houses.. they're literally in the ghetto. Lol. One of the many ghettos we have here in Pensacola... :/ Lake Charlene is nice! My grandma lives there.

yeah the barrancas area isnt very nice....I would strongly advise you to stay away from that area. To be honest I would stay away from the whole westside of pensacola

Definitely off base. My fiance lived at Jamestown apartments for 2 years. It's nice, quiet, family area and the management is wonderfully sweet. The grounds and the apartments are well kept and maintenance is prompt and very nice. We had a great time.
