    Quick question about advance payments...

    Advertisements
So this is our first PCS, my dh applied for the advance per diem and DLA. I am wondering if they usually are deposited separately? I see a deposit today, but its not enough to be both together, and its about $400 less than the dla alone should be...any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

The finance office told us 80%, the deposit seems to be way too much to only be 60%. I guess I'll just have to wait and see if we get another deposit, thanks!

Ok, googled and there was an answer on a yahoo group saying that you can get "up to" 80%. I asked DH and he said 75% is usually the norm

Appologies of the 65% I was thinking something else

Most of the time, you will get one OR the other, not both at the same time, in advance. We applied for advance DLA and advance Per Diem (because my husband was going to school in-transit). We got the DLA, and then when he checked out of his school, he got a partial per diem payment. We got the rest when we submitted our travel claim. Good luck with your move!

I think it was the DLA, I thought because it was an "allowance" it wouldn't be taxed, but my dh says it is...so I guess we are just waiting on the per diem! Thanks!

the DLA is not taxed, make sure they paid you the right amount.
for DLA it is based on rank and with or without dependants.

they may have only paid you 80% of the DLA.

Ok well that doesn't come out right at all...he is an 01E so it says we should be getting $2395.17, but the deposit I saw was for $2040?? I thought that seemed like too much for per diem? I am so confused now!

Do you have access to mypay to see if that says anything? Even if is a separate deposit it should show in his mypay.

How do you know what you DLA amount should be (not percentage wise but overall). I have never bothered to figures that out for any of our moves that I can remember so I don't know where to look.
