    EFMP

    Advertisements
Got informed that my wifes 1466 got disapproved for travel to Germany. Assigment office said i would have to enroll in the EFMP. I am supposed to PCS out of Korea in May and just submitted the paperwork for the EFMP on the vMPF. Does anyone know about how long it takes before we will be approved or disapproved for the EFMP?

    Thanks in advance!

With an EFMP, you will fill out the paperwork. Your sponsor will take it into the EFMP office. They will review it and set you up an appt to have you sit infront of the board.

At ours, there were 3 high ranking DR's there. They go over everything. Make sure you don't have something their clinic can't treat you with. If you are approved, you go...if not...you don't.

Note, get your appointment right away. Better because if you aren't approved, you can try to fight it.

I am guessing you are the military member? First welcome, when you get a chance, please introduce yourself in the newbies section. You wife may also find this site very helpful as a military spouse.

So I am guessing her EMFP screening for command sponsorship didn't go too well and she has been declined command sponsorship, so they are saying she should be on EFMP due to some medical or emotional problems.

With EFMP, depending on the diagnosis and cat level, it can take a few months. I would suggest going and talking to the EFMP co-ordinator on the base and getting them to explain everything to you, it can be very confusing. The reason for EFMP is so that when you PCS with your family, they can make sure there are appropriate specialists near the base that can help the family member.

I thought that no matter what if you were getting overseas orders the family member had to register in EFMP even if there are no issues?

No they just go through a screening to see if they are elegiable for CS, they don't actually get enrolled in EFMP and if denied CS, they can be asked to enroll

She never went in for a EFMP screening. All she did was get her doctor to fill out the 1466, 2792, and 2792-1. The medical facility sent that paperwork up to Spangdahlem. Whoever reviews the paperwork at Spang sent it back saying she was declined Command sponsership. No one ever said anything about a EFMP appointment to me or her. All i was told was to submit all the paperwork via vMPF.

those papers that you sent off to be reviewed, is counted as a EFPM screening for command sponsorship. You could try and get a waiver for her, otherwise try and get on EFMP asap, so you can get your ordees changed. Do you mind me asking why they said she was declined, if you don't want to answer, I understand.

She takes medicine and sees a psychologist every 3 months for depression. How do I go about getting on EFMP faster?

That would explain it, it isn't very often that the will approve CS for someone with depression because a lot of the time they don't have the psychologists overseas for them. As I mentioned, go and talk to the EFMP organizer on your base. Write down any questions you have (even if you think they are stupid). With ODS we had problems with his paper work and his drs were in Hawaii and we were in Okinawa, so there was a lot of back and forth with his drs. It took 2 mths for him to be approved and DH would constantly call and check up on the application process.
