ID cards - Military Moves and Relocation

It's time for me to renew mine and put hubby's new rank on there....Can I go do this without him, or does he have to be with me??

it depends. when DH was on a ship, he had to get the paperwork for me. when he was on shore when we got the new ones last summer, no paperwork, but he had to be with me. call them and ask to be sure

Here at Great Lakes, they only issue the active duty person a new card- spouses keep their old card until it's either lost or falling apart. Then, they will give you a new one and the new rank will be included on the card. They don't just reissue for your hubby making rank though. It depends on the base and I think about 1/2 will give you a new one and 1/2 won't. So, you may wanna call and check before going up here.

I know I have to get a new one because he moved up in rank, I was already told that, and it's also about to expire. I'll give PSD a call.

We have a huge sign in ours stating the service member must be with you unless you have POA

My dh had to get me a form to use since mine expires while he is deployed.

I renewed mine and also had to change it because he changed ranks.. I changed it when I went to visit him in August in Italy and he had to be with me. All he did was show his ID and that was enough.

Dh has the form on file and I have Special POA for PSD so if I need a new card or my girls need one I can just go in and get one.

My general POA wouldn't work
I missplaced mine while dh was deployed
They gave me a 1 week temp (had never seen one of those) so that I could get on base to pick him up and that was after they looked up my info under dh and called his command
so it depends

I think it's different eveywhere. I would call and find out their specific rules. Here the SM has to be w/you and you have to have a form signed by the SM. No POA needed
