    Help Questions

    Advertisements
    Hey Ladies

So my husband wants to do a full DITY move from Alaska to Oklahoma. Hes deployed right now and when he gets home we are gonna be prepping to move. I am just trying to figure some things out before he gets back here.
    So...
*How does a DITY move work?
*Do we pay for everything upfront and then we are reimbursed?
If so, when do we get reimbursed?
*What do we get paid for and how much?
*Are there any special cicumstances in which you can't do a DITY?

Thats all I can think of for now. If I have more I will ask. If any of you can answers these questions it would be great!

the PPM ( formerly called a DITY) works this way- the military pays you up to 95% of what it would have cost them to move you.
this is based on the actual weight moved.
you can apply for an advance of 60% of the estimate up front and then when the PCS is complete you submit the travel claim and receipts to get the balance.

you will get paid for the actual weight you move- right now from AK you will get about 95 cents a pound.
you do not get reimbursed for actual costs; just for the weight you move.

you are taxed on the Profit from a PPM at 28%.

there is no time you cannot do a PPM. you can even do a PPM for foriegn overseas moves.

your DH will need to get approval and attend a workshop to do the PPM.
