How long can you stay in one place?

My boyfriend and I have been told that if he stays in the U.S. Army he will move more than once. I was told the average stay in one station can last up to 3 years. Can anyone offer any insight on this?

It can always change depending on where he is stationed but a "normal" duty station seems to usually be 3 years in the army.

I thought it used to be 3-4 years on average per base, but I think they are working on making it longer, to 5-8... who knows though, anything is possible...
