How does PCS work?
I need some help figuring out how the whole PCS thing works. DH gets home from iraq in the begining of december (i FINALLY got a REAL date that he should be home, im so excited). He will be going to jax for 2 months then to pax river maryland.
Right now i am in wisconsin with my mum (i hate being "under her control" again but there were a lot of reasons i decided to move back, mostly for the health of my DD). Weve decided that we will be going to pax river with DH and we will just figure out DDs medical care once we get there, traveling back to wi every few months for appointments if we have to. This is our first time PCSing and im just very confused on the process. If anyone can explain any of it to me i would be very greatful. Thanks in advance.

You need to be on his Orders in order for him to be elgible to move you. Then he goes to his command and they start the TMO process and which way they will move you but you most be on the Orders

His original duty station is/was norfolk va. I have no idea whether im on his orders or not, i guess ill have to ask him next time he calls. I just assumed, and so did he, that since weve been married for 3 years and we were in the military housing in va i would be.
Thanks, any more info is still greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure but this is who it worked for Airforce. Are you guys both going to a new duty station if so he needs to do all out processing at his original base. He will make an Apt with TMO ounce he gets his orders. they should have them with his unit or squadron. MAKE LOTS OF COPIES. He will need to Out-process and that usually takes 2 weeks at least. There is briefing for moving DITY if you are choosing to do it that way . It will all be on his MPF on what order things need to be done
Here is a website that might help as well http://usmilitary.about.com/od/trave...titlements.htm |

ok here is the thing- since he is on deployment- you moved home on your own dime right/
the military will only pay to move you from the duty station to the new duty station- or at least the miles from the old to the new. you can find out a close estimate of the distances from where you are to where you are going and from the old duty station to the new. any overage will come out of pocket to a tune of about 80 cents per mile. also they will only pay for per diem from the old to the new duty station, and you can only use TLE at the old and new duty station. they will also only pay malt from the old to the new ( distance) a check on the AAA website: ( a guess) from norfolk to Albany NY- it is 495 miles from milwalkee WI to Albany 912 miles- a big difference.

You can do it though....Just make sure all the paperwork is done correctly. We are in the middle of that battle right now. MAKE SURE YOU ARE ON HIIS ORDERS!! (Per diem is given per person and you need to make sure it states what dependents are going! Good luck!
