Ft.Drum ? - Military Moves and Relocation

Ok Ft.Drum ladies I have two questions and any info on them is much appreciated before I lose my sanity and the last patch of hair on the back of my head.

My husband and I didn't get the weight tickets for the empty weight on our Uhaul before we loaded it and there are no truck stops any closier then Syracuse, is there a scale on Post or will we have to empty the truck and get the empty weight in Syracuse?

Today we were looking at rental properties off post and one of the ladies at one of the management companies said that if you live off post you get a cold weather allowance in the winter to help pay for the higher heating bills, is this true?

i cannot help with the scales- but for the "cold weather" allowance- it is not true-

NO one not even those of us who live(d) in AK get an additional allowance for living in a cold area.

and I can tell you fairbanks is one of the coldest places in the states with temps going as low as 60 below 0.

Thanks that sounded kinda bogus to me when she said it and I couldn't find anything online so I wanted to make sure.

Cold weather allowance is NOT true. As far as the weight goes, I am not sure.

Yeah. That's the main reason why we like living on post. The heating bills can be outrageous in the winter time.

I only wish the cold weather allowance was true!

There are state programs that help lower income families with costs, but its not affiliated with the military.
