Help, please?! - Military Moves and Relocation

I am currently over in S.Korea, with my husband, but i am not on accompanied orders. we are going to fort hood in Jan, i am on his orders. How do we figure out how to pcs there? like our stuff from korea to there, & finding a home?

im pretty sure they wont pay to move your stuff because you are there unaccompined.

They will only move his stuff from Korea (a certain weight at least). For your stuff, it would be from wherever you lived before you moved yourself to Korea. And I think that is a certain amount as well.

ok thanks, how do i go about finding an on post house? has anyone done this before.

Well your husband can send in the application for base housing as soon as he knows his report date for the accepting base. And than depending on base guidelines (average is 30 days) his application will go on the list so many days before his report date. Being as he is doing a remote tour, they will consider the past year for how high he starts on the list. I say this is how it goes base on my experience with the AF and their bases and how they do things. Things may be different for the Army and the base you are going to. The best thing to do is call the base (during their business hours of course) and ask them what can be done now. They will tell you what can be done.

Just be aware there are thousands of soldiers coming back to Hood between Nov-Feb so the housing office is going to be nuts. They wouldnt put us on the housing list here untill he reported to his unit, but we got a house within 2 weeks.
