Starting to worry about Norfolk now!!!
Ok so after reading some of the post's on here i'm starting to freak out!
 We're set up for a 3bed in Willoughby bay housing.... then shortly after arriving my hubby's off to Af for a year! Is it really that bad (un-safe)??? I picked it coz my daughter will be starting school next year and the Elementary school's suposed to be good! I'm hardly going to have enough time to get to know the area b4 he's gone.........

There are some bad parts of Norfolk, Portsmouth, Virginia Beach, Hampton...
The best way to find out if the area you're going to live in is safe is by calling the local police and asking about the neighborhood. Also there are some websites that offer maps of your area with all the recent crime activity, and when. I don't remember them. Just do your research, it's not that bad.

What Amber said is true. There are nice parts and bad parts in every city. I don't really know Norfolk all that well so I can't tell you if that's a bad spot or not. But I would call the local police and see what they said. We talked to a cop about an area in Portsmouth that we were looking at and told to keep on moving!
 As for getting to know people, there are a lot of gals on msos who live in the Hampton roads area! And we try to do little g2g when we can. Welcome to msos and an early welcome to Norfolk!

Jilly, thanx also! This whole thing is just getting a little over whelming, but I am looking forward to moving to VA, I have friends with in 3 hours drive in all directions witch is soo nice compaired to here!! (Pensacola)....if the beaches wer'nt so beautiful I would have lost my mind by now! lol
