Scott AFB, IL
I know there there are a few of you ladies around there.
I know I am probably getting ahead of myself cause we don't have orders nor will we till around Easter, but Scott is one of our top picks. We have be thinking of possibly buying a house when we PCS next, if we can get one at a good price. What areas are best to look in around Scott? We have 3 kids, ODS is in grade 1 now, so we need somewhere with a good school, close to shops (preferably fabric stores) and the base.

Shiloh is a great area to live, it's close to Michael's and maybe 10-15 minutes from Hobby Lobby, 15 minutes from base at most, and from what I've heard the schools are good.

We live in O' Fallon which is a great area and wonderful school district. There is a fabric store too! It takes about 10 minutes to get to the base.
When we moved here we were told to avoid Belleville. Mascoutah is a tiny tiny town next to the base. Fairview Heights is popular also. I really like O' Fallon though...you can get a look at some house types and prices by checking out www.militarybyowner.com |

Honestly, I think O'Fallon is the best area to live in around here. We went house searching for awhile. Belleville is older and pretty run down looking. We only go there for the hospital. Collinsville is kind of far away from Scott. Fairview Heights is where all the shopping is. The mall, Babies R Us, Kohl's, etc. It's right next to O'Fallon.
