with my husband no, he went from Basic to AIT with his command. You do usually get a Family day to see them though.

If he puts in for POV travel during basic then more than likely yes. I was able to take my husband to his ait.. depends on how far away it is to how long they gave you..we had 24 hours to get him there then after he was checked in and everything we had the whole weekend together.

I took DH from basic to AIT. I remember during basic they asked which soldiers wanted to be taken to AIT by spouse, family, etc. And DH just had to put his name down. They gave him a certain days to get there, depending how far it is. We got 3 days. We had to sign him out after basic graduation and get his paperwork.

DH asked if we were taking him to AIT but we didn't because he asked us last minute. So AFAIK it's allowed.
