Car shipping- weight/size restrictions? - Military Moves and Relocation

We have two vehicles, one of which is an F-350, the other is a Corolla. Anyway, my husband will be flying home from deployment in a couple of weeks to get everything for our PCS taken care of. We were planning on shipping our car and having the navy ship the truck, but I'm not sure if there are any size/weight restrictions on what they will ship? If the truck is too big, obviously I would like to pay to ship the truck instead and have the navy ship our car. I know my husband could probably find out after he gets back, but I'm trying to send my information now to Horizon Lines about which vehicle will be shipped, etc.

i dont know if there is a weight restriction but my DF checked prices to ship his sedan compared to my truck and my truck bc it weighs soooo much more cost around $3000 + and his car would only cost like $1000.

according to him they ship by weight not size. so if we ever PCS somewhere that we need to ship our vehicles we will let the army ship mine and pay to ship his since its really much cheaper.

I know our car will be much cheaper for us to ship- but I don't want to ship the car, and then have the navy tell us that they won't ship his truck because it exceeds weight restrictions- and then us have to ship the truck as well. You know?

I don't think there is a weight limit on the vehicle you ship through the military.

yeah i understand. is there anyone you can contact and ask what the limits are? if any? That way you dont have to worry about it or wind up paying for it later. i hope it works out!

I dont think there is a weight limit. Our friends just shipped their Excursion through the military and ended up private shipping their little Escape home. They were wondering the samething and had no problems doing this. I was with them when they dropped it off in Anchorage and they said nothing to them about it. Hope it works out for you!!

there is no weight restrictions for personal owned cars and trucks ( cannot ship a semi truck

nor can you ship a camper or RV. you can find this information in the JFTR or call the transportation office.

We shipped our suburban from Seattle to Anchorage via the military so his truck should be good.
