    Help EFMP

    Advertisements
Can I apply for EFMP before my husband gets orders for overseas? Currently he is in SF selection, but of course thats never a for sure thing and he's heard they are being sent to Italy if dropped. Of course those are only Army rumors but I want to be get anything out of the way as possible!
I know that I will have to enroll in EFMP, I was diagnosed a few years back with an auto-immune disease. Im fine and just have to take medicine and see a gastro dr. a few times a year. I also was born with glaucoma and have to get eye drops from a opthamologist. Does anyone know how strict the program is and if that will prevent me from going to Italy or anywhere else overseas?
If I am enrolled in the EFMP before my husband gets orders, will that prevent him from getting an unaccompanied tour?
I have no clue where to start! Thanks a bunch.

I don't believe so. I believe you have to have the orders cut to do the EFMP. Especially as different bases might have different requirements.

If you have all those issues, you should already be on EFMP. I don't think they will send you. I have a mild case of CP and some depression and I'm stateside bound. They can also send him unaccompanied. They just won't send you.

I would apply before he gets orders because that can affect where he gets orders too. DH isn't allowed to get orders outside the US because I have a pacemaker

    EFMP

Regardless of orders and your current location, you should enroll in EFMP because it can expedite your medical bills getting paid as well as help getting referrals to specialists. If Tricare sees you have an existing condition on record, it won't question the scrutinize the referrals as severely (in my experience). Our DS was a micro-preemie born in Germany. He accumulated $110,000 in bills the first day, we never paid a cent and never had a problem with billing thanks to his EFMP status.

So how do I start this process? Up until now Ive used my own insurance but that will change soon. Do I need to call Tricare? There is an Army base a few hours away but nowhere close to where I am.

Have your dh go to the clinic and get the paperwork and have your pcm fill it out and then mail it off.
