A few questions
I was just wondering after most of you got married when your married pay and BAH was on the paycheck? I was also wondering I have been told that once my DH get over to Iraq that he will actually get to call me more than he can when he is on the boat is that true?

As soon as you are on his page 2 he will receive dependant BAH (it's just more housing money) immediately and it will be back dated to the date you were married. There is no such thing as "married pay"... Depending on the boat the Iraq thing could very well be true heh.. The calls are expensive.
Just a note: When you are married, if you do not make sure you go with him and are added to his page 2 and enrolled in DEERS you will not have married benefits until that is done.

It can take a few weeks for it to actually start showing up on the paychecks, but it will be backdated to the day you were married.

He also has to be on top of that too, just because he sends in the paperwork that doesn't mean that it won't get "lost" or "misplaced". That is something dh found out, when we got married they still had the BAH split into two seperate pays and we found out that they only gave us one of them for one month.. We couldn't figure out why we were always short on the rent. Ever since then he knew he couldn't just turn in paperwork and hope it would make it through.

A lot of it depends on the command!
It took us 3 months but that was 10 years ago too. As for Iraq. For the most part yes he will. Depending on where he is and what he is doing. What command is your dh with? Mine was with MSF in VA and he got to call more on land than he ever did on a boat and it was WAY cheaper too. HTHs |
