    Road Trip Across the US???

    Advertisements
So DF wants to drive from here ( San Francisco Bay Area, Ca) to Goose Creek in a uhaul van...
He asked me to come up with an itinerary
Does this sound reasonable to you?

    Day 1
    CV- barstow,ca 6hrs
    barstow, ca- flagstaff, AZ 5hrs
    total 11hrs

    Day 2
    Flagstaff AZ- albuquerque,nm 4hrs
    Alb, nm- amarillo,tx 4hrs
    total 8hrs

    Day 3
amarillo, tx - tulsa, ok 5.5hrs
tulsa - memphis, tn 4 hrs
    total 9.5hrs

    Day 4
    memphis- atlanta, ga 6hrs
atlants, ga - goose creek, sc 5hrs
    total 11hrs

I know were supposed to limit travel to 8hrs a day or something
but he starts prototype much sooner than expected, so we'll have 6 days to move and start getting settled before he starts prototype...

    we are doing something similar.

    LA to Phoenix

    Phoenix to El Paso

    El Paso to San Antonio

    San Antonio to Slidell Louisiana

    Slidell to Orange Park florida.....

we figured it out on google maps and then researched hotels along the route and are going to book them soon......we are travelling with a dog so we have to make sure we have a place she can stay too (la quinta inn takes pets for free mainly).....

    good luck!

Another good way to get a route with hotels is to go to the hotel website and some of them have an option to route with hotels along the way. We did this on our way from Texas to Alaska and it worked great. As for the time of driving, that sounds great. Most likely will be stopping every 3-4 hours for gas, food and all. Good luck and have fun!!

You don't have to limit it to 8 hours driving. They just figure 8 hours driving when they figure how many days to pay per diem for.

Ok I just had to deal with this one. Military rules are still at 350 miles a day or about 6 hours, but if you are a professional trucker then you would be able to drive up to 600 miles a day or about 11 hours. And from my experience Take as much time as you can cause you will get tired of driving quick. If there is no reason to rush, don't. Good Luck and have fun hope you get to see some cool sights!!

** I know that I am right on the military travel but not positive on the trucker travel till I can talk to my FIL.

I did. The thought of getting to see DH in a few days kept me going though!
