Anyone have a family member supervise their move? +OCONUS deferred travel question.

    Has anyone ever done this?

My mom said she'll be our authorized release agent so that Pendleton can move our things through her rather than me sitting around and waiting 2-4 weeks longer.

Any suggestions on ways to make her life easier? I know she won't have to lift a finger and nothing has to be packed. I have a bedroom that I live in to move and that's it. I was just going to stack all my belongings in there so she could say "anything in this room goes". Easy enough?

ETA: Do I still get an unaccompanied shipment on top of the regular shipment of my household goods?

if your mom is going to do it she will need a limited power of attorney- it is pretty easy to do, she should not have any trouble.

to answer your question - if he is already there I don't think you will be allowed the unaccompanied baggage- but this may vary by branch so call your TO and get the scoop from them.

BUT you will get a reimbursement for having extra baggage charges. but if you show them orders there should not be any added charges for the extra bags.

Thank you for your reply! I'm okay without the unaccompanied baggage. I will double check on if I get it or not. It'd be great to know if I need to ship some things via the mail or just hold out.

I had deferred travel and I got an UB shipment. If J didn't ship anything UB you are authorized to ship UB.

I'm 99% sure he did not ship anything UB. So I guess I'll see when the orders come?

It doesn't say on your orders if you are authorized UB or not. As long as you are moving from CONUS to OCONUS and nothing has been shipped UB under that set of orders, you are authorized a UB shipment.

Okay, sounds good. I checked with J just in case. He didn't ship anything UB.

    25 hours from now.......

Rei, thank you for coming back in here and checking my posts. It means so much to me, and I know you're super busy right now too. Thank you x1000!
