Question Please help! Does anyone know...

    Advertisements
If I go over for a week visit to see DH in Italy, will it void the responsibility of the Army to move me and my stuff there once my command sponsorship goes through?

I want to see him and see if I can't figure out what is going on with my paperwork that nobody seems to know anything about. At the same time, I don't want the Army to say something like "oh! Too bad you came to visit. We're no longer moving you over here on our dime." We just can't afford for that to happen... I'd only be going for 7-10 days...

    abolutely positively NOT!!!

going on vacation will not make you forfiet your HHG's MOVE.

it would not matter if you went to italy or to kansas-

the only thing that this would even pertain to is a COT - and one has nothing to do with the other

I see no reason for it to. It is not like you would be announcing to them that you would be going on a trip to Canada so why would you let them know you were going to Italy?

I think DH did a COT to go from Germany to Italy. I'm not 100% positive as to what a COT is but I know he extended to 2012 to take the Italy orders and had to do a COT. How will that affect my visit? Thanks for your help by the way!

I was just thinking that people in his unit would meet me and I don't want them to see me and go telling someone that I was in Italy and them say "good now we don't have to move her here." Also, if he had a chance to look for housing or anything, I'd love to be there to help pick it out but won't go if it will jeopardize my move.

I'm going to say no. I did command sponsorship stuff in Germany when I wasn't command sponsored so I wouldn't think it would be any different. As long as you come back to the states and travel on a tourist passport and not the no-fee you should have no issues at all.

Okay, thanks Steph. I really just over-think things. Its not that anyone told me this could happen... its just my analytical brain chugging away in thought. Hopefully I'll have my tourist passport back next weekend. They've had it for 10 days already and I just figured if I paid for expedited service, I'd have it back sooner than next weekend....
