    Advertisements
that what I feel like doing. I have been so stressed!!
Ok for some reason I have had the impression that the packers will move one automobile...I had heard today from someone that they dont, I would have to transport them myself.
Someone that recently PCS'd or knows what they are talking about please clear this up for me?!!??

No the packers do not move vehicles.

If you are moving overseas you can have one vehicle shipped which has to be set up seperately. Generally people drive them when moving on the mainland states.
    Needs work.

no you cannot move your vehicle with HHG's.

however there is a program that will reimburse you part of the cost to ship a [I]second[I
    vehicle

In the Navy they will move one car if your part of a base closure or your homeport has changed. Other than that they won't transport a vehicle unless you are going over seas, and that is seperate.

I know different moving companies will move cars but they aren't moved by the military. We had a car moved with our stuff once. It was a non military move though. During our first move the truck that carried our stuff also had a BMW inside.

I don't see why your couldn't call the moving company moving your stuff and see if you could set up the move to include you car but keep it separate so you pay for it.

no they do not reimburse for gas for either vehicle- you will get .24 cents a mile for each authorised mile for each vehicle .

You can drive both cars and get .24/mile plus the MALT rate (depends on how many dependents there are, etc) or you can drive one car and ship the other (that is what we are doing this month). NO one tells you this but YES they do reimburse you for the car you ship. you have to pay to ship it yourself (you have to find the moving company yourself) and when your husband does the travel claim at the new duty station, you can put the car on there- they will give you the difference of what it would have cost the government to pay you to drive a second car and what you paid the car shipping place. so you have to pay a little out of pocket.

with us, we are paying $870 to ship a car from NC to CA and will have to pay about $120 out of pocket! Not bad at all!

This info is all in the JFRT section 5

Let me know if you have any other quesitons
