    Anyone's DH a 25B?

His recruiter told us Info. Tech Specialists can be stationed anywhere, which I'm sure they can, and he also said even some Air Force bases????? Anyways, I'm just curious where you all were stationed, even though I know you could go anywhere, I'm just more curious where you've been than seeking information.

My DH is a 25U, but he works closely with alot of 25B. Our shop is actually split evenly between the two. And yes, you can go pretty much any where you want being in a commo slot. There is usually always a opening anywhere because it isn't a very popular career field.
We're at Fort Wainwright, we didn't even have to request it, it was number one on our dream sheet though and as soon as he went into the office they said how does Alaska sound?!..We happily agreed and here we are.

Oh wow, that's great! I'm kinda torn between choosing duty stations. I would love to go to Hawaii, but I'm getting cold feet about being that far from my Mom (yes, I'm a Mama's girl lol) How do you like it in Alaska? I tried looking up their housing and stuff, but can't find a website. And of course ArmyHousing One Stop has been down for like 2 months.

My hubby is 25U as well. We have been to Hawaii, Ft. Sill, OK and now Ft Carson, CO. I believe they need commo soldiers everywhere as long as there is a slot open. We want to go back to Ft Sill after a year so if anyone is at Ft Sill and wants to swap and come to Carson email me.

I was actually interested in Sill and Carson. If you don't mind, could you tell me about the housing? Bascially all I want to know is if there's a crazy long waitlist and if the housing is nice or not. I'm also worried about my dogs. I would REALLLLYYY like to have a yard. I know in some places I can put one in, but I'd rather already have it there already, kwim?

I love Alaska but it's one of the places that you either will fall in love with it or you will hate it and can't wait to get out of here! There isn't alot to do in the winter at all but summer time is amazing, me I'm nuts and adore the 24 hours of daylight
The housing site for up here, we just switched from it being run by the Army to Civilan contractors so I believe the website is northhavenhousingak.com or something along those lines, if you google it you'll be able to find it no problem. As for housing here, all of the old stuff is being torn down and new houses are being built, the new houses are nice but my husband and I live off post because I can't stand living nut to butt to someone!

Ft Sill-Housing waitlist is forever long. It took us a year to get on post. They did just go privatized though so they may be changing some things. They are also building a lot on Ft Sill due to incoming soldiers from Bliss. Lawton sucks though lol...not a whole lot to do. You can take a short drive to OKC or Wichita Falls and there is plenty to do at both places. We loved Ft Sill because it was close to home(Tulsa).

Ft Carson-It is beautiful here. So much to do. Reason we don't like it is because again...want to be closer to home. As far as housing goes...they really go off of rank, household size etc. It is pointless to call them as they NEVER answer their phones. Basically you have to go in there and bug the crap out of them. But some of the housing on post really is NOT worth the BAH...depends what they offer you.

Hope that helps. Email me if you have any other questions. apecoraro5@yahoo.com

My hubby is about to deploy so I am taking myself and my son back home while he is gone.

Thanks for the info! And not to sound TOTALLY stupid lol, but do you ever see Polar Bears or anything? I know you're not totally out in the wilderness or anything like that, but I always here about them coming into town. At least that's what the say on TV anyways. I love Polar Bears and it would just be frickin awesome to see some out in the open...as long as they're not too close lol
