It really depends on how long the waiting list is.
We were living OIT when we got married, then moved into housing about 8 months later. We were on the waiting list for about 2.5 months. We timed it just right for when our lease was up.

Every base will be different. We got a house 2 days after we were married.

What rank is your DH? for E1-E5 it is an 8-10 month wait. E6+ and O housing is shorter i believe.

Different bases will have different lengths on their waiting lists. Some bases have more openings than others. Some bases are closing older units while they're building newer ones; we waited 34 months for housing in Yokosuka, that's one of the reasons we re-toured. But now, people get housing within a few months.

On the camp lejeune base housing website, it has the wait times based on rank.

If you need any help with anything let me know!

Thanks. I looked at this...but DF said that he's never heard of it taking longer than about 3 months. Hopefully it works like that for us too!
