My husband is at lackland finishing up tech school! after that, he will be coming home for two weeks for leave, then we head to tinker! this is obviously our first move and were not sure if we should have the military move our stuff for us, and how we go about that? or if it is easier to get a moving company? we heard the first move is easier if u just let the military do it, but i dont even know where to start! any help would be great!!! thanks!!

Hey! I'm at Tinker! Glad to have you!
If your DH has a copy of his orders, he needs to take them to the TMO office and set up a move. I would use the movers, but I hate packing, personally.

I'm not at tinker, but I would let him set up a move through TMO. There will be a lot of paperwork, stress, etc.. just moving to your fist duty station, the movers will come in, pack up everything, give you a inventory and head on thier merry way to your new home. You can also ask to be puton the list for housign now, if you want to live in housing.

If you have any questions about the Tinker area, I'm happy to help out. Feel free to shoot me a PM anytime. I was born and raised in the area, so I'm VERY familiar with it.

We were at Tinker for 2 years. Pretty decent town that OKC. We owned a house in Del City right off base! The cost of living is nice, and houses were cheap!

\I don't know much about the base. I really didn't spend much time there! WE were there during the bombing and that community is really amazing!

We were also at Tinker for 2 yrs and left just a few days before the OKC Bombing. I loved it there. Housing was cheap, plenty of good school areas and good colleges if you are interested in that. Lots to do in the area and close enough to Dallas to drive down there for a weekend.
