actually that's a HUGE misconception...MOST states (and CA is one of them) require us to change our license...we are not active duty only our husbands can use an out of state license without being fined for it...you've been lucky that they haven't taken it and fined you.

I never did. I never had a problem with it. I live overseas now though so I couldn't change it anyway.

You are required to change your license within 30 days in most states. (If not all of them) You can and most states will fine you if you don't. Also, if you go to renew in your previous state and give them a false address, they can fine you or prosecute you for providing false information on a government form.

It doesn't matter if you don't want to pay the prices or you don't want the hassle or whatever. You should change your license to your state of residency asap.

And no, your state of residency is not always the same as your sponsors. Dependents residency states change when they PCS wether you are there 60 days or 6 years.

Also wanted to warn that if your license and registration, etc are not changed and you are pulled over on base, the MA's/Security can scrape your decals and you can lose driving privileges on base. I know that there is a big excercise coming up VERY soon in which they will be doing that.
