    Housing question.

Anyone know if you are placed priority on a waiting list for housing if your husband is returning from deployment? Or is it just a first come first serve kind of thing?

first come first serve. EFMP members get bumped to head of the line depending on their category, but otherwise you just have to wait.

    I will miss you SOS...
Please be wary of what you post remember OPSEC is not just another acronym.

That's what I thought. So this leads me to my next question... when can my husband put us on the waiting list for housing if he is deployed? When SHOULD he? Situation: DH is deploying and I'm moving. We will need housing when he gets back because I will be returning as well, but I'm not sure when he should put us on the list while he is over there. Any help?

whenever he wants. you can do it as well, you just need a copy of his orders and sometimes a POA ( i would take one regardless you just never know)
I would suggest you calling the housing office to see what they tell you.

Get on the list before you leave. Just make sure you follow whatever renewal rules they have and you should have a house when you are ready for it. We got on the list in VA back in Sept. We wont need a house till Aug sometime its looking like now. I just have to call every 6 months to let them know I still want a house. If I get to the top of the list, they will just skip over us until we are ready.

Not sure how it is with all bases/branches but in our experience, you can only go on the housing list 30 days before estimated date of arrival.
