Question Shipping a POV to Gitmo

    Advertisements
My DH shipped out on Friday, arrived Saturday. Upon his arrival, he discovered that it's helpful to have a car on base.

This is my first deployment as a wife, and I have no idea where to start. I have a phone number for the LA office of the CONUS Vehicle Processing Center - should I just call them? I looked at the list of what you need to do in order to send your car - SO LONG!!!

Any tips, tricks, or help you can offer?

I appreciate any and all of it! Thanks!

If he is deployed they won't ship his car.

He can rent a car, buy a car there, ride a bike, get a ride with someone who is stationed there and allowed a car.

What's the difference between deployed and just a placement? He's not necessarily deployed - he was placed there upon finishing his C School. Is that the same thing?

18 months! I really don't want to have to drive his car while he's gone - it's too big for all the underground parking in this city! It'd be better if I could have it sent to him and get it worked out.

Unless he is PCS'ed there, they will not ship a car to where he is. And I am not sure if they do for all PCSs either.

Buy a mountain bike and ship that to him. Otherwise just call some transport companies and see what their rates are.

if he has PCS orders they will ship one vehicle- you need to ask him if he is on PCS orders or TDY orders.
