Question Question about change of orders.

    Advertisements
DF will be checked out of Germany when he comes on PCS leave to get married. Can we go through Ft. Hood (because we'll pass it driving to TX to see his parents) and get his orders amended after taking care of all of the other things?

I've heard 2 different things. I've heard that he has to wait until he gets to Italy since that will be his post and I've heard that he can get his orders changed on any post because it doesn't matter where he is.

I think his units S-1 has to amend his orders, but you MIGHT be able to go to Ft. Hood. I would def. have him call and check into that. They won't help you out a whole lot, but he can probably get the information he needs.

I don't know if it's different in your case, but DH had to get his orders amended in Germany.

Pretty sure it has to be when he gets to accepting base. Because there is a bunch of stuff dependents have to go through to go overseas (at least AF wise). And you need to be command sponsored in able to go and it has to be his duty station not a random one.

    I'm so confused.

This Army officer said I don't have to be Command Sponsored if I'm on his orders. DF told me that too. But now we're on whether or not we can amend the orders at Ft. Hood since we'll be there... I guess wait and see?

Not in the AF. YOu have to check into the new base then ask for command sponsorship. That is especially true for overseas, since they have a set amount of dependants allowed at a time.

Italy shouldn't be to hard to amend. At the worst you can fly over with him (unless he is on military transport) and be ther for 30 days visiting. Hopefully it can all be sorted out by then.

You can get your ID, enrolled in DEERS etc.. at Fort Hood

all overseas tours for every branch require command sponsorship and a medical and dental clearance. you also need a no- fee gov passport to be able to LIVE there.

they will not be able to do anything but get you enrolled in deers and get you an ID card at fort Hood. you will have to stay somewhere for 3- 6 months until he can get the orders ammended and you get your clearance and no fee passport.

they will also not pay for you to go to italy that tix and any costs to get your stuff there will be out of pocket.
