Mayport is one of dh's options for orders. Pros and Cons?

Does it get affected by hurricanes regularly?

What's the job that they are offering.

I am only familiar with NAS Jax but there is a lot to do in Jacksonville. Orlando is 2 hours away which is a plus for my family.

I hope to get back to Jax next tour. Hurricanes are rare because of where Jax sits but they do get TS Force Winds on occasion from storms that are passing by.

I tried to get G to take Mayport orders when we took orders out here.. I sthill think I'd like FL better than CA...

I think it would really depend on the billet for us.

Well, I'm what I am and I'm what I'm not
and I'm sure happy with what Iíve got
I live to love and laugh alot
    and thatís all I need

I'm with Rex and not familiar with Mayport area that much as I was closer to NAS and we LOVED Jax. After one year of being there we decided that we'd totally move back to Jax in a heartbeat and will be there next summer.

There is ALOT to do.....Orlando is so close, Savannah, the Keys, etc.

    We enjoy it.

It seems to be in a bubble and get skipped alot for hurricanes, however that's not to say one couldn't hit there. BUT personally a hurricane gives you time to get out of the way.......I used to live in the midwest and was always terrified to sleep during storm season.

I live on base here at Mayport. I actually really like it here, I love the beachy atmosphere. It is a smaller base. They have a new medical center that is really nice, banks, fast food, ect. My dh works in a squadron so i don't know much about the ships here. We had a couple of hurricane scares this year, but never had to evacuate. If you have any other questions please ask and I can try to answer
