I know someone who is dual military and had to send her children back from Germany because they got deployed rather unexpectedly. Perhaps I can e-mail her with questions for you?

My response doesn't make much sense... her and her DH are in the same unit. So they both deployed and had to do an ERD (only I think it was called something different). They had some issues with trying to get the kids back once she came home early though. PM me if you need me to ask her anything.

Well DH is deploying to Africa for a year, I will be here, unless we can get them to send me home early. His PRD is Feb 2010 and he would be returning Jan 2010 from the deployment.. if not later. He's not sure if he's re-enlisting or not...

I have a feeling they are going to make me stay here though...

Not sure if Hawaii works the same way, but basically what we were told is that if the dependent has to go home, while the active duty military member stays then they are sent home once and not sponsored to go back overseas unless it is a separate tour AFTER the stateside return of the active duty member.

I was also told that dependents would be able to get into military housing at the last known duty station or in some cases they will go to the next expected duty station to wait for the return of the active duty member.

Hope that helps you some! If you have more questions, let me know. I have a TON of paperwork on it when we decided to somewhat voluntarily divert to NE before going to England due to my health issues.

I'm not sure, but the rumor I heard is that they are no longer doing ERD's due to deployments, or are limiting it. I know there were PLENTY of Army dependents in Hawaii doing that, before they cracked down on it. I believe if you move, it'll be at your own expense.

    Good luck Steph!!!!!

I definitely don't have answers. If Srahscat answered you're question, then disregard me.

Otherwise, i'm happy to e-mail my friend although it may take her a couple of days to respond. They're very busy with upcoming homecomings! (That includes her DH)

I would stay put once I go back. We have no intention of me leaving from Texas for a while. From what I'm reading online though, with the Pearl Harbor PSD I don't think they are going to authorize me to go back.
