its hard to know what they took out. At least I can still pay rent, maybe buy a little food. It stinks. At least christmas is over! its silly that they would take away from his allowences. Geez what else do those recruiters lie about. They siad "in the Navy family comes first" I guess this is what I can expect for the next few years. I hope its worth it!

The military life isn't that bad if you don't go in with a bad attitude.
That 1st year is kind of rough cause there are extras that come out. The uniforms will be taken care of by the time he gets out of boot. But if he is doing the GI Bill that is 1 year and usually they sign up for charitable contributions etc.... It does get better if you have the right attitude to give it a chance |

My first thought is "wow, you got two paychecks in boot"? We only got one, after DH was in for about 7 weeks... and the next was when he graduated (Dec 30 2004); that was a normal paycheck.
Did the first check include BAH and FSA (Family Seperation Allowance)? How much lower is the second check---does it only include BAH and basic pay? Unfortunately the only way to know what came out of the check is to either have an account on MyPay (your DH will have to give you his PIN or authorize you a seperate account), or to have him send/show you his LES---they do get those in boot mailed to them. Good luck, and the paychecks do get better. |
