So say DH gets stationed in... Japan. Is there anything special that we're going to have to do so that I can go with him? I thought that no matter where his PDS was, I got to go, unless he was deployed? Is there something that I missed? DH is Marines btw.

He may very well receive "unaccompanied orders" which would mean that dependents (you) are not authorized. I am reading your "location" to mean he is in MCT/MOS training at the moment? If so, it is most likely that any overseas orders he would receive would be unaccompanied. To travel at the government's expense and have fully benefits while there, you would need to have sponsorship and be on accompanied orders. You can choose to go as an unsponsored person, but that is not always the best idea as it can mean having no access to base privileges (medical care, shopping, going on base at all, etc) and you would not be eligible for housing, etc.

So when would it be "unaccompanied" orders? is that a good possibility for his first duty station? or would that only be something that was like a temporary duty station? I'm so lost right now. I just dont want him going MORE places without me being able to come. and yes, he's in MCT right now, going to be in MOS september for about 3 months.

Sorta new at this myself.. If he's married why would they get unaccompanied orders so that their family/Wife wouldn't be able to go? What makes the difference in getting unaccompanied vs. accompanied. I thought if they get stationed there for like 2+ years the wife gets to go, and any less they can't... ? Which sucks.

Ok so DH said if he gets orders there for a year they are unaccompanied because it doesn't make sense for you to move there for only a year, so it it's orders for 3 years, then it's accompanied.
