when we get out of the navy (before retirement) will they still pay to move us back to our home of record? or do you only get that if you retire with them?

They move you back to HOR any time you separate.. As long as where you're wanting to move is the same distance as HOR or closer to where you're currently at they should move you there. Friends of ours got out last year and they weren't moved to HOR.

Well, I'm what I am and I'm what I'm not
and I'm sure happy with what Iíve got
I live to love and laugh alot
    and thatís all I need

so if dh re-enlists once, then we decide to go back to our home town after that enlistment, they'll move us back?

he is dead set on telling me that doesn't happen unless you put your 20 years in.

ETA: phst, shows what he knows. i'll just ask everyone here everything first.

you don't have to retire or put in your 20 years they will move you no matter what. You can move wherever you want, but if it is further then your HOR you have to pay the overages. kwim

    I will miss you SOS...

we just did this last year... DH's HOR was Maryland, we moved to Texas.. we did a DITY & actually made a little bit of money!

    FYI:
HOR is where your SO signed up for the military (not to where he pays taxes to)...
and if you decide to let the military move ya and it's further than the distance of your HOR, you pay the moving company in advance. (can get expensive!!!!)
