    Question post housing

    Advertisements
I'm just now putting in the application for on-post housing, DH and I bounced back and forth between the idea of getting a house vs. getting an apartment vs. living on post and we finally decided to live on post. Now my question is that we're supposed to move there in roughly three months, if by that time they don't have a house available where are we supposed to stay until one does becaome available?

well it depends if they tell you there is a week wait you can stay at a hotel/army lodge. If it is longer you will need to either wait till there is housing available or find an apartment you can rent month to month till housing comes up. What is the wait time did they tell you?

So, they're making you wait just to give you an estimated wait time? lol And FYI, the way AKO does it is firstname.lastname@us.army.mil sometimes they use middle initials as well or a number after the name if it's a common name or if there's more than one with same name...but better to wait until you hear from your husband cause he'll have the right one. Don't want to go around making up email addy for your husband haha

If the move-in date doesn't jive with the expiration date of your current lease, you could ask your landlord/property manager if you could occupy your current home for an additional month. Usually they will allow it if you ask far enough in advance, when you give notice that you're moving out. As long as someone is in the unit/home and paying, they won't care if it's you or someone else.
