    Number of Dependents??

We've heard rumors that the military wont relocate your family overseas if you have more than 2 child dependents due to the cost! Is it true? Does anyone know or have knowledge concerning this situation? Please share...

Of course rules may have changed in 30 years, but I was born overseas while my dad was in the Navy (born in Rota, Spain ) and I was the youngest of 5. And I've met lots of other military families who had an ass-ton of kids and lived overseas.

So I dunno. Things are probably different now. You should ask petsparkle, she knows lots about dependents, etc (she wrote a book on being a military spouse .)

They may have changed in the past five years too... we took four kids to Alaska when we PCS'd. AK is considered overseas too...

I just came back from GE last year and I met many families with more then 2 kids. I knew some with 5 and 6. enlisted and officer ranks for different families. It is harder to find housing for larger families, but they do it!

They don't like to, but they do it. It depends on how badly they need the spot filled. They were going to send us to Guam with 3 children.

In 1994 as a dual-active duty couple, we relocated to Japan. I was not a dependent because I was active duty myself, but my husband claimed our 3 daughters, so he had 3 dependents.

I don't know if our dual-active duty status had anything to do with those orders, but I do know a lot of people who were moved overseas with a dependent spouse and two children.
