    BAH/TLE

    Advertisements
We currently live off-post and receive BAH. We are PCSing to Lewis, and will likely stay in a hotel once we get there, until we get a house (either on or off post). My question is, will be continue to receive BAH or get a prorated amount until we move in a house, if we move on post? Or, will we get TLE? Just trying to figure out what will cover our lodging expenses until we find a house.

You will get BAH and you are also eligible for TLE for up to 10 days total. This will include the days you stay in a hotel when you check out, as well as check in. This does NOT include the travel days. If you stay longer in lodging than 10 days, then it is out of pocket.

    Right on the nose.

I wanted to add, if you're not on the waitlist for FT Lewis, you most likely will be forced into private rental. The wait list is about 6-12 months long. If you have no children it will be next to impossible to get on post housing anywhere with the army, especially at Ft Lewis, and I would recommend starting your apartment search now.

We got put on the waiting list for Eagle View, and they said it was a 3-6 month wait, and that we would likely be put in a home shortly after arriving. When we get there, we are going to look at rentals, too. Just to see what's available in the area before moving on post.

    Thanks for the answers ladies!

If you can get in a house on post in a decent amount of time, do it!! Rent around here is very expensive.

ditto!! but remember that you need approval from your branch for TLE- some branches require that you stay on base at one of thier temp lodging - so make sure you understand the rules of TLE before actually doing it.

and to clarify it is for 10 days total- and you can split the days between old and new PDS- like 2 at old and 8 at new...

but you cannot get 10 days at old and 10 days at new... make sense??
