    Question Does this sound right?

    Advertisements
We applied for the moving allowances in advance (BUT NO ADVANCE PAY). They told us to expect the deposit a couple days before the move. Today, which is 11 days till moving, but only 6 days to pack out, we got a deposit for...

    $2,567.13

    HOLY CRAPOLA!

Is that right for two people driving from GA to VA? They never told us (or at least if they did, dh didn't remember) how much to expect, and this seems really high.

I don't want to think this is ours, and then find out it was a mistake, kwim?

I can't get in touch with dh right now, but when I do, I'm going to ask him to call PSD. But until then, I'm dying to know what you guys think!

If he also requested advance DLA, then yes, that figure could be right. The lowest DLA with dependents (E1 through E5) last year was 1749.24.

Oh, ok. Yes, he requested advance DLA.

So, do we have to provide receipts for this when we're done? If we didn't spend enough money, do we have to give it back?

I went to the smooth move thing, but now I'm all confuzzled.

They do not ask for receipts any more, but save them just in case. You do not have to pay back and in fact, the travel advance should only be 80%, so you will get a little more when you file the move claim. Also save receipts for TLE and file that when you file the travel claim.

Sounds about right.. when we moved from CT back to TX.. our total move pay was close to that amount for just the two of us in one vehicle.

Well, I'm what I am and I'm what I'm not
and I'm sure happy with what Iíve got
I live to love and laugh alot
    and thatís all I need

The DLA and MALT don't require any receipts and never have. Per diem used to require receipts, but they don't seem to be requiring them anymore. I would, however, hang on to my lodging and food receipts just in case.

TLE is not an advance, but can be reimbursed after you arrive and settle the claim.
