    EFM members and housing

    Advertisements
Ive heard a lot of people talking about being on EFM and getting into housing faster. I'm in CAT 3 EFM , Would that effect us gatting into a house faster? Does it depend on why you are on EFM or do they just go by you CAT?

I am a cat 5 and they day we called they had a house for us. I think it may depend on the area and your cat.

I believe you have to be Cat 5 for it to effect housing. I asked before we moved here and I'm pretty sure that it's navy wide you have to be Cat 5.

I want to say that it was either a cat 4, 5 or either. I'm not sure.

Here we go, I found it:

Service members with dependents enrolled in the Exceptional Family Member (EFM) Program classified as Category IV and V qualify as candidates for priority PPV housing. These personnel have severe medical problems where priority assignment is required per OPNAV 11101.13J instruction.

The Exceptional Family Member (EFM) Program is designed to identify family members with long-term health care, psychological, or special education needs. While enrollment in the EFM program ensures service members are provided initial priority assignment to MFH, enrollment does not expedite relocation due to changes in family composition. Also, enrollment assists your detailer in identifying your needs when determining duty assignments.

Service members with dependents enrolled in the EFM Program are placed below the 10 percent freeze/stabilization zone on housing waiting lists.

Here in SD, you get priority if you are a 3 or higher. Sometimes a 2 depending on how many EFM families are waiting.

We are Cat 4 because of Noah, and we got into housing within two weeks, of getting her. Mainly because they were getting the house ready for us.

My DD is a 3 because of a heart condition and we did not get into housing in SD faster. We are still on the wait list. We have been on the list for 2 months now.
