was that u I posted about this to earlier? you can get housing from where u are. just make the calls. J and I found our current house and did all transactions thru email with the landlord...pics, lease agreement...EVERYTHING. And u dont ever have to worry about it being a rat trap because military housing inspections are pretty harsh and everything on that website has been inspected or is pending. |

OK! Fort drum has a hotel on base, its like 30 dollars a night.
There is also the microtel right off post, its 300 a week with military discount. They aslo have temp housing, I wouldnt recommend, and since I saw in your other post that you have a dog, you cant stay with your animal. I stayed in TEMP housing once while visiting, because the hotel was full. Its like summer camp. Old barracks turned into a hotel. Small room, no AC, you share a bathroom, a kitchen and washer and dryer with everyone else that is there. I posted the number to housing in your other thread. But make sure to call early, and often. And I dont want to be a downer, but we have been on the list for a month for a 2 bedroom, and we are number 780. The housing list there is LONG. AND whatever you do, do not take housing off post. The lease is up for the ARMY and its going back to the original owner, and its cheap and expensive. We lived in there before DH was deployed. Main reason I came home was to move on base. There are a few apartments there, but its like 900 + dollars a month, not including utilities. Most places there do not have AC. Unless you live on post. Beware it gets negative 40 there. If you have any other questiosn let me know. |

ALSO- go on the fort drum website, to housing. They have a housing application that you can print and fill out and fax. You need your orders to drum, LES and marriage licenses, and if you have children their birth certificates. They should be able to put you on the list after you email it or fax it to them.
Also request the welcome packet, it has tons of info on places there, also places to rent our buy a home. If you want to rent a home there, make sure you check out the area. There are some places there you do not want to live. I might be able to help if you have an address. But all in all, I hated and loved NY. I am a FL girl and the winter wasnt great for me. But now that I am back here in FL I miss it. Fort Drum is a huge base, lots of stuff to do. Lots of outdoor stuff to do. They are currently building more housing on post, and reduing the PX and Commi. And the area is growing so fast that I am super excited to see what it is like when I get back. |
