    early reenlistment

    Advertisements
Hay you guys my dh just sent me an email telling me that there is a possibility of him reenlisting early, while they are still in tax free. He has another year on this enlistment and has put in for a PTS (preform to serve, to change jobs). Have any of you ever heard of reenlisting early and what it entails. Like does it mean a new duty station or what?

I think you'd only get new orders if he's in his order window when he re-enlists. That's how it's always worked for us. My DH re-enlisted almost 2 years early. (Nov. last year while in Bahrain.) No SRB for us though.

I think so, if your rate has a bonus going at that time.

We had issues with re-enlistment date, and for some reason they tried to FORCE the issue even though he had 2 years left on his re-enlistment and had wanted to re-up on shore duty. He went ahead and did it, since we're lifers anyway.. It was a pain in the butt, because we were planning on having a big party out here in SD and having his family be there for the re-enlistment. But oh well... LOL

I have no idea what is going on with it. He put in for a PTS because he wanted a new rate, they messed that up and put him in the same rate he already is in. He is up for shore duty in two years. I don't know if him reenlisting will change where he gets stationed or his PTS or anything.

I am a little OCD about wanting to know and understand everything and this is not falling into my nicely compartmentalized brain!!

My husband reenlisted early once......just to GET the SRB because they were told it would disappear because he was going out of zone. And it did........we were glad. It didnt' affect his orders....he stayed in his sea command and rotated out normally.
