    Question Interstate Transfer and Deployment

    Advertisements
My SO is currently part of the NG in a state we do not live in. He has the opportunity to transfer to a NG unit in the state we live in. He has a meeting today with his Command Sgt. Mgr regarding the transfer. Has any one gone through this? Is it an easy process? Do I as a spouse need to prepare for something?
Also, his current unit is deploying soon and SO wants to deploy with them. If SO deploys with his current unit and he transfers to the new unit during or after his deployment and then they are up for deployment can SO request to not go since he would just be getting back from one?

Have not gone through this, but basically the loosing unit has to agree to release him. Will they do it? Who knows. They may, however, take into consideration how much they have paid for his training and what they have gotten in return. As for requesting not to go on a deployment, one can always request, but there are no guarantees.

His Unit stated they will release him, he just has to decide if the transfer is what he really wants to do.
